Tonight our church hosted "Table for Two", a nice Valentine treat. We loaded up N and brought him to church, where we checked him into the nursery, listened to a quick sermon on Dr. Chapman's Five Love Languages, and then off we went on a two hour date! We had a nice walk outside and a fancy (well fancy for Columbus) dinner. Noah did great in the nursery (he usually does because he enjoys watching all of the other kids, and we enjoyed some alone time.
When our pastor was talking, he mentioned that when he and his wife got married and had kids, they noticed that his love language changed. I found that interesting, because I was really thinking that recently mine had too!
Before N was born, I was a "time spent" person. I loved bonding, and spending limitless time hanging out with Jeremy. Once someone asked me "how much bonding is enough?" to which I was speechless! Is there ever enough bonding?
After N's birth, my love language has turned into a "acts of service" language. Don't get me wrong, I still love excessive bonding, but a good vacuum or dishwasher emptying means so much more!
I didn't really even consider that your love language could change with time, or even with major events, but is true!!!
Anyone have any input on this???
